This is the most affordable coffee place I know of and I like supporting this quirky, local business! I'm slightly reluctant to write a review because it's a bit of hidden gem and ideal for one-on-one meetings. I'm a fan of the many windows, and how it's usually pretty quiet, and has a easy-going and comfortable ambiance. I've been going to Grumpy Steve's for years and folks I schedule meetings with here are always surprised by it. They're like "I didn't know there was a coffee place by the Wabasha Caves!"
I've found the staff very friendly and helpful every time I go. You've got to try the Belgian waffles which I give-in and treat myself to. It's nothing fancy but satisfying. They do coffees, lattes, chai, expresso, etc and again, I think their prices are the best around, especially compared to Dunn Brothers nearby. I like that they also have a table of local crafts that you can purchase. Go support Grumpy's next time you're on the West Side, but make sure you watch their hours since they do close early (2:30pm) M-Wed & Fri.
